Mark Biggins

Mark Biggins recently graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music where he studied conducting as an HR Taylor Trust Scholar with Peter Stark and Howard Williams. This season Mark has conducted the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the University of London Symphony Orchestra and the RCM Symphony orchestra and worked as an assistant with Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Jurowski and Martyn Brabbins.

Raised in Sheffield, Mark read music at Clare College Cambridge and then received a Mellon Fellowship to study Choral Conducting at Yale University with David Hill and Masaaki Suzuki. As a member of the Yale Schola Cantorum he toured America, Europe and Asia, performed with the New York Philharmonic and Bach Collegium Japan, and recorded extensively. He has conducted the BBC Singers, the Yale Schola Cantorum and was a semi finalist in the ACDA conducting competition in Salt Lake City. Also active in the world of opera, Mark has assisted Martin Andre at the Cheltenham Festival, Tim Murray at West Green House Opera and is looking forward to taking up the position of Assistant Chorus Master at English National Opera next season.
